National Recovery Month 2025

September is National Recovery Month

Each September, communities across the country come together to celebrate National Recovery Month, a time to honor the strength and resilience of individuals in recovery and to raise awareness about the resources and supports that make recovery possible.

This year’s theme highlights the importance of community, connection, and evidence-based support. Whether you are a person in recovery, a family member, a service provider, or an ally, we all have a role to play in building a community that supports recovery.

Recovery Takes Many Forms

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. For some, recovery means abstinence; for others, it includes harm reduction strategies, peer support, medication-assisted treatment, therapy, or faith-based programs. Each pathway is valid. Every journey is unique.

By recognizing and respecting the diversity of recovery experiences, we not only expand the possibilities for healing—we also reduce the stigma that too often prevents people from seeking help. When we normalize the message that “recovery has many paths,” we make it easier for individuals and families to find the support that works best for them.

Tools & Resources to Support Recovery
